Assessment Process

Symbiosis School for Open and Distance Learning has a vigorous Assessment process. The evaluation of the programme includes a combination of assignments, case studies, logbook or project report & term end examinations.

a. Evaluation methodology for post graduate diploma programme:

  • Each P.G. Diploma programme is divided into "Theory courses" and "Practical training courses". Each course has a continuous and term end assessment component (as applicable for the programme):

  • Learners are requested to appear for the assessments on a timely basis and complete the programme in the stipulated period. "The weightage for "Term End Examination" shall not be less than 70% in the result of learners.
  • Assignments are mix of subjective and objective type questions, whereas case study I / logbook I/case OR project synopsis are devised for imparting practical knowledge required for that particular programme. These should be completed as per the timelines provided in the Learner handbook. The "formats" of each component is available on the student portal Click here.
  • As a part of term end assessment of practical training courses, learners are also required to submit project /case report in hard copies and logbook II (online through learning management system). Supervised term end examination for each theory course is conducted at DESIGNATED EXAM CENTRES.
  • Learner, who have submitted all components of continuous assessments applicable to their programme, will be eligible to fill exam form and take the term end examination for the courses.
  • P.G. Diploma learners will also have to attend a compulsory Contact session (F2F).
  • P.G. Diploma will be awarded ONLY if, student has completed & secured 50% passing marks in all the elements of assessment, (i.e. Cont. assessment: assignments / case study I / logbook I/case OR project synopsis & Term end assessment: project /case report/logbook II, term end examination of theory courses), attend contact programme & fulfilled all the other criteria laid down by SSODL including payment of all fees.
